When you find the perfect camisole—one that stays in place and holds its shape—do you buy it in every color? As soon I realize that I’ve discovered the cami to top all camis, my 20-20 hindsight kicks in, wishing I’d hoarded three whites, two blacks and a handful of fun colors.
It never fails that I can’t find my favorite camisole when I want it—usually buried at the bottom of my laundry basket. It’s time to stock up on lots of camis to love—and definitely at least three white ones to keep them all white all summer long!
Variety is the spice of life!
Color variation in a camisole collection is a must. There’s time for cami-camouflage and times for peek-a-boo colors. For example, I have a sheer floral shirt that I prefer the cami appear to not be there, so I wear a nude cami. But when I’m wearing my favorite low-cut tank, my hot pink cami is my go-to choice. I also have my stash of sleepwear camisoles. But the variety of camisoles goes beyond the color wheel. Check out these different camisole styles to spice things up:
Lacey Shape. I’ve had lace camisoles with so much texture that they snag on whatever I’m wearing over them—not a favorable situation in my book. But the Bali Lace N’ Smooth Camisole Top gives the flirty look of lace and provides a smooth first layer. It also has darted seams to shape the waist and bust.
Active. Workout clothes have come a long way on the fashion spectrum. It’s easy to find an activewear tank to double as camisole. For those busy days when a yoga class is a must but I have to be somewhere right away, I wear a tank like the Moving Comfort Flow Cross Back Tank. It’s perfect for yoga class and transitions great with a lightweight cardigan.
Everyday. Here’s where the hoarding and restocking happens: the everyday cami. For me, these have to be lightweight and super soft—and preferably don’t roll up my midriff. I personally don’t wear ones with a shelf bra, but I know lots of ladies that must have the extra support. Invest in higher quality for the basic everyday camisoles, like the Hanro Everyday Cotton Spaghetti Strap Camisole—the ones that you wear over and over again. Then grab all the fun colors you can imagine.
