If you’ve got it, flaunt it! How often has this been said to you? For me? Not often. I am tall, thick-ish and I have been gifted in the top half. That doesn’t mean I want it all hanging out.
So how do you go about finding the right suit for your body type? Where do you begin? First and foremost, set a budget and stick with it. Try on several different styles and patterns. Of course, be prepared to try on a few stinkers before you find a winner.
For women with a petite frame, stay away from vibrant floral and youthful patterns. This will keep you from looking like a little girl. Stick with halter-tops – they elongate your frame.
For women with an athletic build, stick with small prints and softer patterns. Avoid bandeau style tops – they accentuate the fact you do not need straps to hold you up. Angled stripes and rash guard tees are a great look on the beach.
Sexy necklines, billowy tops or form fitting suits help to cover up our trouble zones. Don’t spend extra money on tunics, sarongs, and beach towels. Embrace your beauty!
If you have long legs, I suggest going with a striped suit, or if you’re really brave, a tankini. The tankini is my suit of choice; I get support, function, and fashion. Plus, I feel confident in it! I found a look that says “hot mom”, not “frumpy.”
