Backless Dress Bra, Where Are You?

Have you ever fallen in love with a backless dress but put it back on the rack because you had no idea how you were going to wear a bra with it?

Many women have faced this fashion quandary. Trial and error has been my only way of finding a solution, which wasn’t a fun way to figure it out.

Knowing a few things you can expect from different convertible and adhesive bras can help you choose the right support and coverage for your breast shape and size. With a little thought and planning ahead, you can avoid the trial and error test. I don’t wear backless dresses every day—usually only for a special occasion. And those occasions are not when I want to worry about a nip slip or straps showing all night long. Here are two bra styles that will let you wear your backless dress with confidence:

Women who want coverage and lift—not just one or the other—will find convertible bras offer the most options. They come with multiple bra straps so you can configure it for your trickiest dresses such as low back, single strap and halter-top. For ladies with larger breasts, convertible bras provide the lift you need while still allowing the sexy reveal of backless dresses.

When less is more for your backless dress, adhesive bras fit the bill. Typically these bras are made with silicone that will adhere to your skin. (I was so scared to remove this bra the first time I wore one! It didn’t hurt in the slightest.) While many adhesive bras will provide nice cleavage, they often won’t give a big lift. Be sure to read the tips and comments of a particular style to see if there are maximum size recommendations.

Having a few special occasion bras on hand enables us to pick that backless dress from the rack and bring it home—and then wear it with confidence.
