Top Drawer: Wearing Lingerie Outside The Bedroom

I saw a girl last week while I was walking downtown, and when I told her I liked her top, her response was, “Thank you! It’s a corset.”

And while fashion icons and celebrities have been rocking the lingerie as outerwear trend for decades with corsets, slips and camisoles, leave it to the new generation to take it to a whole other level.

There are crops of scantily clad pop stars every day showing off their goodies, so how can this look still be classy AND stylish?

Many women are familiar with the cami and sweater look, which can be cute and girly, but have you dared to try a peekaboo bra or silky kimono as a cover up? Holiday parties are around the corner, and a touch of lace peeking out may spice up an otherwise ordinary black dress.

For me I used to think of underwear and bras as being strictly utilitarian or for the bedroom. I never thought to wear it OUTSIDE my clothes! With this trend, maybe less is more?

My first experience was wearing a bandeau bra top under a cut-out tank for the Indy 500 this past summer. While it was 100-plus degrees outside, I still felt a little naked.

However, I am more than happy to show off a lacy number under a semi-sheer dressy top if I am going out with my girlfriends. It is all a matter of finding what works for you.

There are numerous styles and options to pick from. You don’t need to pull a Miley Cyrus and bare all, but many celebrities have managed to get the look down pat!

This lace camisole, bandeau bra, & strapless corset are the perfect ways to test out this fashion trend!
