Shopping for Bras on a Budget

Are you looking for bras on a budget? Do you wish you could find affordable bras without having to sacrifice fit, quality, and style? I can help!

If you’re watching your pocketbook but still don’t want to settle for anything less than beautiful, flattering, and supportive, read on for some shopping tips. You can feel comfortable on the cheap, trendy while still being thrifty, and get the best for less. You just have to know what to look for – and where.

Let’s face it. Bras are complicated garments. They take a lot of work to design, require expert craftsmanship, and contain a variety of fabrics and materials. It also takes a lot of time for you to find the fit, style, and size that works best for your breasts. So, it’s no surprise that bra shopping can get expensive (and time-consuming) fast.

If you’ve ever splurged on a luxury bra (which I recommend every woman do), you’ve probably noticed the difference a more expensive bra can make – especially compared to a cheaper bra you’d find on the clearance rack of a department store. Having a budget doesn’t mean you’re doomed to over-wear one or two more expensive bras or settle for a life of wearing cheap, ill-fitting alternatives.

While I recommend that you invest in at least two or three more high quality bras for your everyday wardrobe, you can add more variety to your lingerie drawer with less expensive bras that still fit and support you well.

Best Times to Budget Shop

Your basic go-to styles have a big job to do on a regular basis, so it’s important not to skimp on your investment when it comes to support and quality. If you do need to curb your spending on some bras, there are  situations that justify looking for cheaper options.

  1. Rapid weight gain or loss: Whether you’re pregnant, nursing, or dieting, if your weight is fluctuating frequently for any reason, it will affect your bra size drastically. Until your weight and size has stabilized, you can look for cheaper bras to get you through periods of weight fluctuation.

  2. Sleep and leisure: If you are someone who likes to wear a light bra to bed or when lounging around the house, you should have a few wirefree, soft, and breathable bras. Because these bras aren’t so much about fashion and complex construction as they are about comfort, you can find good sleep bras at reasonable prices.

  3. Bralettes: Bralettes typically don’t contain the same parts as traditional bras like hardware (underwires) and padding, so you can find quality bralettes for less.

  4. Fashion bras: Your special occasion, hardly worn, or only worn with a certain outfit bras get less use than an everyday bra does, so it makes sense to look for less expensive options.
